The Suncor Acciona Ripley Wind Farm project is right on the money after a year of operation.
Project operator Paul Austin says actually they are slightly above expectations for the fiscal year ending last March.
Austin says in the first year, they’ve produced 221 thousand megawatt hours which is slight above expectations of the projected 216 thousand they forecast going into the project.
He says the project is realizing around 34 per cent of total capacity which by definition of Ontario standards is right in the middle of expectations.
Austin says they’ve produced enough electricity to provide energy to about 20 thousand homes.
He says so far the investment has been worthwhile.
Austin says as expected, the best months for taking advantage of the winds in this region is fall and winter where they had their best production.
The 38-turbine wind farm cost 176 million dollars to get up and running from start to finish.
