There is a new memorial at Bluewater Park in Wiarton.
The White Cloud Chapter of the I-O-D-E has unveiled a sculpture in the Park that honours the many years of volunteer work by members since 1952.
The Wiarton group received 7 thousand dollars from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to create the memorial.
The iron sculpture depicts a woman helping a child.
IODE President Pat Caldwell says it will serve as a visual reminder of the valuable community contributions made by their members.
The Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE) was founded as a Canadian women’s organization in 1900.
In 1952, the local White Cloud Chapter began in Wiarton.
