A fire led to the evacuation of a unit at the Owen Sound hospital.
The Owen Sound Fire Department responded to calls of a fire in a room on Unit 4-1 at 10:45 Saturday morning.
Captain Randy Moore says an occupant was in the room at the time the fire began, but says no other details about the patient or the cause of the fire can be released because the police are now investigating.
He adds the fire was contained to just the one room and the hospital’s sprinkler system was able to extinguish the flames.
Moore says by the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the entire unit had already been evacuated and hospital staff were working on getting out the rest of the fourth floor.
Moore is commending the workers for their fast actions and says there were no injuries.
The room was severely damaged, while the rest of the floor suffered water damage.
