Ralph Akiwenzie has been returned as Chief of the Chippewa’s of Nawash Unseeded First Nations.
Akiwenzie was elected in the balloting and received more votes for Chief than Paul Nadjiwan, Jake Linklater and Wilmer Nadjiwon.
For Akiwenzie, a long time Chief of the Chippewa’s of Nawash, he will lead the Unseeded First Nations for the next two years into 2011.
Overall, through council and as Chief, Akiwenzie has been on the political scene for more than a quarter of a century.
Nine councillors were also elected during the vote.
In order of votes, the council will be comprised of Scott Lee, Paul Jones, Kathy Jones, Arlene Chegahno, Peter J. Akiwenzie Sr, Isabelle Millette, Martha Pedoniquotte Christine Keeshig & Veronica Smith.
