An amazing birthday present for a Holland Centre woman.
Mary St. John is spending her 52nd birthday with a million dollars after picking up a cheque from the Heart and Stroke Foundation on Thursday.
St. John says she’s always known she was going to win big and has always supported the Foundation, purchasing numerous tickets in the past.
This time around, the stay a home Mom bought a 3 pack of tickets in the Heart and Stroke Lottery for 250 dollars – and received the call about her win on Wednesday.
St. John says she thought it was a telemarketer at first, and says her husband Ken, a Grey County OPP Constable, still doesn’t believe it.
St. John says the first thing she and her husband did was clean the house because they’re still in a daze.
As for her windfall, she says they will fix up their car and maybe even splurge for a new one.
They also plan to update their house and make it more accessible for Mary, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.
St. John says they have three grown sons who will also benefit from the win.
And even in their shock, the St. Johns are thanking the Heart and Stroke Foundation for all the good work they do, saying their own family has been touched many times.
