The harbour in Owen Sound will look like it did in the 1950’s this weekend.
More than a dozen tugboats will be in the harbour as part of Owen Sound’s Heritage Day tomorrow.
It’s hosted by the Marine and Rail and Billy Bishop Museums.
Museum Manager Mary Smith says they will have at least 16 tugboats from around Georgian Bay sail into Owen Sound starting today.
One of the vessels is called the Still Watch with a crew of 20 — it was built at Russel Brothers in Owen Sound.
In fact — Smith says the tugboats and their displays symbolize Owen Sound’s importance to the industry.
Smith notes the first Maid of the Mists were built at Russel Brothers.
The tugboats on the back of the old one dollar bill were also made at Russel Brothers.
There will be a tugboat parade in the Owen Sound harbour at 11 AM tomorrow (SAT) and the boats will also have a light parade at 9 PM.
There will also be a number of other activities as part of Owen Sound Heritage Day tomorrow — highlighting the rail and war history of the City.
The events will take place from 10 AM to 4 PM Saturday at the Marine and Rail Museum and the Billy Bishop Home and Museum.
Tickets are 5 dollars each or 15 dollars for a family of four — children under 2 get in free.
