School may be out for students — but not for teachers.
For the last two weeks — 40 teachers from the Bruce Grey Catholic and Bluewater District School Board have been hitting the books.
The teachers are taking Ontario College of Education courses in Hanover at the Catholic board office.
This is a first for the region — as in the past — teachers wanting to further their education had to travel to Toronto.
A team of specialized teachers within the local Boards are providing the instruction.
Catholic Superintendent of Education Catherine Montreuil says teachers from kindergarten to grade 12 are participating in the training.
In the end she says it’s the students that will reap the fruit of the their labour.
Montreuil hopes they can offer the local teacher training again next year.
The training wraps up today.
