Sutton cruises to quarter-finals in Ontario Junior Match Play
Kingston, ON: Top seed Mitch Sutton of London, Ontario moved into the quarter-finals of the Investors Group Ontario Junior Boys’ Match Play Championship with a pair of easy wins on the second day of play at the Cataraqui Golf & Country Club in Kingston.
Sutton, the 2008 Canadian Junior Boys’ champion breezed past Jeffrey Goodier of Richmond Hill with a 4 & 2 win in the morning and then scored a 5 & 3 victory over Brett Kennedy of Kitchener in the afternoon match.
Jacob Ohanian of Winona, Ontario will face Sutton in the next round after defeating Tyler Stone of Peterborough 2 & 1 and Evan Koritko of Burlington by the score of 5 & 3.
Cataraqui members Brad Boyle of Kingston and Kyle Benford of Amherstview will meet in the first match of tomorrow’s quarter-final. Boyle downed Steven Bridgland of London 4 & 3 and Jack Shoreman of Orangeville 7 & 5 while Benford beat Sam Nitsopoulos of Midhurst 4 & 2 and Ethan O’Meara of Sarnia 3 & 2.
The Quarter and Semi-final will be played on Thursday and the 18-hole final goes Friday morning.
