A South West Local Health Integration Network community consultation meeting was held in Hanover.
Over 100 people attended the meeting last night.
Cautious optimism seemed to be the general consensus by many in attendance.
Most walked away from the meeting saying they felt better informed and somewhat hopeful.
However the need for further dialogue was echoed by many.
Hanover Hospital Chair Allan Fisher would like to see a few more of these meetings happen in Hanover.
He says while there were a few questions answered there are still plenty more questions to pose.
Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson agrees, calling the meeting a great start but says further discussion is needed down the road.
Former Hospital Chair Dave Hocking was pleased with what he heard.
He say the LHIN has assured him decisions will not be political but rather founded on evidence based data.
This is a big concern for Hanover, a stand alone hospital surrounded by the South Bruce Grey Health Network made up of four area hospitals.
The format of the meeting was met with criticism by some. The room was broken into four sections forcing the public to break into smaller groups.
While some enjoyed the intimate style of the meeting, many others complained that without the use of a microphone system sound quality was an issue.
The next local LHIN public meeting will take place in Owen Sound on Tuesday July 28th at the Bayshore Community Centre beginning at 7 PM.
