A big day in Walkerton; the Miss Midwest and Princess Pageant is tonight.
Pageant President and CEO Barb MacArthur says this year 36 girls are competing, in what she calls a non beauty pagaent.
MacArthur says inner beauty is the focus of her pageant, in fact, make up is not allowed in the princess category, where one girl is chosen between the ages of 8 and 12.
One girl will also be chosen between the ages of 17 and 23 – who already has a title of some sort, in the “Miss” Category.
Each year, in that category, the top five contestants of the night, give a speech about the charity of their choice.
Last year’s Miss Midwest, Alicia Lockie of Listowel, will be on hand to make a donation to her charity, Cystic Fybrosis.
Past Princess Morgan Wilkins will be on hand as well to hand over her crown.
The two winners each year, attend a number of events across Grey, Bruce, Huron and Wellington Counties — including the Wiarton Willie Festival.
Doors open at 7 PM at the Walkerton Arena, and the event begins at 7:30 PM.
Tickets are 7 dollars at the door, those 12 and under get in for three dollars, while pre schoolers get in for free.
