There could be more wind farms popping up in the region.
PRENEAL Canada, in a news release, has announced signing an agreement with landowners on the Bruce Peninsula.
PRENEAL Project and Community Relations Director Daniel LeBlanc says the company likes the area because of the wind potential and willingness of landowners in the area to do business.
LeBlanc says they would like to develop a wind farm of up to 200 megawatts in the former Eastnor and Lindsay Townships which means 60 to 80 turbines.
He says if this project goes ahead, it will be a long term one.
Spokesmen for the Northern Bruce Peninsula Landowners Committee, Tim Matheson and Glen Estill, confirm that local landowners had been approached by various wind developers last fall, and felt that the community would be well-served if the various options were studied in depth.
PRENEAL is planning more public consultation with local and First Nations communities.
The next step involves obtaining connection rights from the Ontario Power Authority.
LeBlanc tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that any further developments are not likely until late summer or early fall.
