It’s a tragedy waiting to happen.
Saugeen Shores Police Chief Dan Rivett says police have been called several times so far this summer to the Port Elgin harbour.
Apparently people are jumping off the break wall at the harbour entrace.
Rivett says he’s particularly concerned about youth jumping off the cement wall to dive under boats that are passing through.
He says boats obviously cannot stop as quickly as a car if someone jumps out in front of it and somebody is going to be seriously hurt if not be killed.
Rivett says if anyone is caught taking part in this practice, they will be fined accordingly.
Fortunately to date, there has been no report of injuries.
