The Walkerton Medquest Camp has come to an end.
30 students have spent the last week in the camp based out of the Walkerton hospital — finding out about various careers in health care in rural communities.
Amelia Davidson — who is starting Grade 12 at Kincardine District Secondary School in September — says she’s not sure what sort of career in health care she wants.
But she hopes taking part in Medquest will give her a better understanding of what she wants to do.
Jared Kerr of Mildmay — who begins Grade 11 at Sacred Heart in Walkerton this year — says he wanted to broaden his education on medical awareness and see what he wants to do in that field.
Walkerton Medquest Chair Myrna Inglis says the week was great and the students were enthusiastic.
She says the camp counsellors — medical students from the University of Western Ontario — are well-organized.
Inglis says the students got great experience with their half-day job shadowing.
Another Medquest camp begins Monday for the first time in Owen Sound.
