Police are reminding residents about email scams going around the internet.
Many have been around for years and Police say one making the rounds right now is allegedly from “Hino Motors Limited”, which is a truck and bus manufacturer.
It asks the email recipient to accept payments for the company in exchange for an 8 percent commission on each payment.
But Police say a little research would tell you that Hino Motors limited is part of the Toyota group.
It’s head office is in Mississauga and there are over 40 dealerships in Canada, with an assembly plant in Woodstock.
Police report the phony emails often tell you that you can keep your present job, and you don’t have to pay anything up front.
Instead — you deposit their fake cheques, and sent them most of the money back.
Police remind you what you end up with is a huge debt owed to the bank because the cheques are not real.
