The first of 10 Household Hazardous Waste Days takes place in Walkerton.
Things such as batteries, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs and paint will be accepted Saturday at the Bruce County Highways Garage in Walkerton.
Anything with the corrosive, toxic, reactive or flammable signs on the product will be accepted although officials say not all products carry the symbols.
So if you’re in doubt, take the material to the depot.
Walkerton’s collection goes from 8 AM to 11 AM and then officials will move to Lucknow for another collection session from 1 PM to 3 PM.
Other locales to offer the same service in the weeks ahead include Tobermory and Wiarton, next weekend and Southampton on July 25th.
Northern Bruce Peninsula and Sauble Beach will have a collection day on August 8th, followed by Kincardine, August 15th and Paisley and Mildmay on August 22nd.
Commercial, Agricultural and Industrial wastes will not be accepted.
