Get out your two wheeled traveller this weekend because Owen Sound is celebrating bikes.
The first annual Owen Sound Cycling Festival takes place today and tomorrow from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Bayshore Community Centre.
The event features something for every level of cycling – from beginner to enthusiast.
Festival Organizer Doug Miller says there are events both days — kicking off with the 8 AM bike ride through the town.
Miller says there will be skill workshops, maintenance how to’s and short films on cycling on Saturday night.
There will also be a bike rodeo today — featuring a bike check and training course for basic cycling skills.
The event is the brainchild of Miller — who says he wanted to create a cycling event that was more than just about racing.
Miller says cycling offers many benefits for your health and is a relatively inexpensive sport.
Some of the workshops will be about how to pack a tour bike, ride in traffic and mountain biking skills.
On hand demonstrations with the Arrow Mountain Biking team will also take place.
