Attendance is up at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton.
Director Barbara Ribey says based on the record attendance set during the hugely popular Ice Age exhibit in 2007, they are up by 589 visitors or two thousand dollars in admission revenue from the same time last year.
As of June 22, there were six thousand visitors to the museum so far in 2009, up from 4542 last year.
Memberships have taken a sharp spike from 148 in 2008 to 251 so far in 2009.
Education and School programs account for a major increase in revenue.
As of June 28nd, 2008, those activities brought in over 11 hundred dollars compared to over 67 hundred this year.
Ribey says the total increase for individual admission revenue is 10 thousand dollars and childrens programs are doing phenominally well, going to two days a week this year, and likely three in 2010.
Ribey says the dinosaur exhibit currently underway is the main reason for the increase in visitors.
Ribey says the young family-oriented exhibits are what bring people to the museum.
She says the new lighthouse exhibit is good for adults and seniors, but even it incorporates hands-on activities for children.
She says more local people are spending time closer to home in Bruce and Grey counties, and that means good results for museum facilities.
