A 65 year old Bruce Peninsula man has been committed to stand trial on a charge of first degree murder.
Allan Wayne Powney of Jackson Cove will be in assignment court October 6th, to have his trial date set.
His week long preliminary inquiry ended Thursday with the judge committing him to trial by judge and jury in Superior Court in Owen Sound this fall.
Powney remains out on 300 thousand dollars in bail posted in the spring of 2008.
He was ordered to live under house arrest with family members — and he is not allowed in Bruce County.
Powney was charged in the death of Doctor Henry Janssen who was shot in his truck on Scenic Caves road in the Lions Head area, back on January 22nd, 2008.
The two men were neighbours in Jackson’s Cove.
Along with the charge of first degree murder, Powney faces six firearms related charges.
