The idea of allowing the public to use the Walkerton fire hall has been turned down.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato pushed to open meetings rooms to the public.
But the idea has been opposed by the Fire Department and Chief Building Official.
Council received a report on the limitations and costs of the plan — and it says a minimum of 135 thousand dollars would need to be spent.
It also states new meeting space would compete with other town owned and private facilities.
But Bagnato says he would like to revisit the issue in the future.
