Casino Rama near Orillia is the subject of a Human Rights complaint by a Meaford resident who’s waiting for a sex-change operation.
The 38 year old claims to have been humiliated by security guards.
Carol Ann Kotsopoulis was born male, but dresses as a woman, and tells the Toronto Sun the date for sex-change surgery is in 2011.
A guard approached Kotsopoulis and a woman in the women’s washroom at Rama in March of 2008, telling Kotsopoulis to use the unisex bathroom instead.
Kotsopoulis has filed a complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and is awaiting a mediation session with Casino Rama and an adjudicator.
It will take place in the fall at the earliest.
