Rover and Spot will soon have a new place to play in Kincardine.
Council has given final approval to a by-law that will establish a new off-leash dog park.
Deputy Mayor Laura Haight says it will provide a safe and secure spot for dog owners to let their pets run free.
Haight says the location is in a wooded area to the west of the Legion Park ball diamonds on Bruce Avenue in the south end of town and will be marked with temporary fencing.
She says the more likely permanent location of the dog park— at the site of the current Ward One landfill might not be a reality soon because it could take a year or two to properly close and decomission the facility.
Haight says the Bruce Avenue location will provide a cost-effective, fenced in area.
KinDog — a local group of dog owners — has been lobbying council to establish an off-leash dog park in Kincardine.
