An elderly man is facing charges after a crash in downtown Owen Sound.
Owen Sound Police say the crash happened at 12:40 PM Tuesday on 9th Street East.
An SUV leaving a private parking lot accelerated quickly across 9th Street and crashed into a transport truck parked across the street.
Police believe the driver hit the gas instead of the brake.
The two elderly occupants of the SUV received minor injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Their vehicle sustained major front end damage and had to be towed from the scene, while the transport trailer received minor damage to one wheel.
Police say it’s lucky that the SUV hit the truck instead of entering the sidewalk area which was busy with pedestrians at the time.
An 81 year old man from Georgian Bluffs has been charged with careless driving.
