Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller continues to push a plan to repeal the long gun registry.
Miller seconded Bill C-391 before the House of Commons broke for the summer — the bill would eliminate the long gun registry.
Miller says this bill is different from other bills as it only goes after what he calls the ineffective long gun registry.
Miller claims they have the support of some Liberal and New Democrat MP’s.
But he doesn’t know if they will support the bill or just follow party lines and defeat the proposed legislation.
Miller argues the gun registry doesn’t deter crime because criminals don’t register their guns anyway.
He says the money spent on the registry could be better spent on more police officers or border guards to stop illegal gun smuggling.
