An Owen Sound high school student has won a 20 thousand dollars scholarship to the University of Ottawa.
Matt Blackshaw, a student at Westhill, recently took first place in a public speaking contest — in french.
His speech was based on his three month exchange to France and how he struggled with the language and culture.
Blackshaw says it all started with a school project and before he knew it ..he was entered in the nationals.
He says he’s keeping his options open — but he says the 20 thousand dollar scholarship at the University of Ottawa sure goes a long way in helping him make his decision about the future.
Blackshaw says he’s interested in their International Development program.
