Kincardine is willing to take the time to build the addition to the Community Medical Clinic.
Council accepted a staff recommendation Thursday to award the tender to Quinlan Construction Limited at the cost of 2.35 million dollars.
It is estimated that the construction of the addition will take 56 weeks to complete.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says there were others bidders that have promised to complete the work in less time than the Quinlan offer.
Nith Valley Construction had a bid that was 15 hundred dollars more than Quinlans but would finish the work in 39 weeks.
But he says there are logistics that have to be ironed out with the doctors and staff at the clinic to make that work.
Kraemer says he is extremely cautious about trying to tinker with the original tender.
He says when you are dealing with that kind of money it can become a quagmire if the process gets off track.
Kraemer says there were 4 tenders that were close to one another and each had their own strengths.
But he says the Quinlan tender was picked by the architect and staff based on the criteria and believes they have made the right choice.
It is expected that construction on the 55 hundred square foot addition will begin later this month.
