Government funding has been announced for a couple of projects that will benefit kids in our area.
Simcoe Grey MP Helena Guergis and Barrie MPP Aileen Carroll announced Friday that the federal and provincial governments are each contributing 90 thousand dollars to expand and fix up the Stayner Centennial Pool.
The two levels of government are also investing over 253 thousand dollars each to spruce up the field at Pretty River Academy on Highway 26 in Collingwood.
The money will be used to install a Field Turf surface.
Joint funding of over 23 thousand dollars is also going to fix up the Lynch Subdivision Parkette, Pine Park in Everett and the Lisle Ball Park.
Money was also announced for the construction and rehabilitation of the Rotary Outdoor Pool and McCarroll Playground that will benefit people in Alliston and New Tecumseth.
Almost 994 thousand dollars is coming from the federal and provincial governments.
Both governments are giving out a total of 380 million dollars for 758 projects across the province.
Helena Guergis’ office says the projects were selected on the basis of merit and construction readiness.
