Georgian College is booming with first year applications way up in Owen Sound and Barrie.
Vice President Bob Kennedy says often, Colleges are the opposite of the economy, so when companies struggle the number of people attending College soars.
Last year, Georgian College set a record for 1st year applications and already they are 25 hundred above that mark.
In total, over 21 thousand people have applied to attend one of the campus’ of Georgian College, which is a jump of 14 per cent.
Kennedy says there are over one thousand applicants to the Owen Sound campus alone, which is a jump of 26 per cent from last year.
Along with a big increase in applicants for the fall term, Kennedy says the number of people who have been accepted and confirmed they will come to Georgian College is also way up from last year.

College Ontario C-E-O Linda Franklin says more people recognize the value of higher education, particularly in this difficult economy.
