The Province’s plan to implement full day learning for kindergarten students is garnering praise from the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board.
Bayshore Broadcasting News Reporter Robyn Garvey says the board is already prepared to operate the new proposal.
Director of Education Bruce MacPherson says they are eager to participate in any pilot project for full day learning for the upcoming school year.
The McGuinty government has allocated 500 million dollars over two years to start phasing in optional all-day kindergarten in 2010.
MacPherson believes full day every day kindergarten will provide 4 and 5 year olds with a better start.
He notes studies prove that children who attend full-day programs before Grade 1 fare better academically and have better social skills.
MacPherson believes many parents will also welcome full day learning.
He says the program will address daytime child care issues for working parents.
