More Grey Bruce children will get help to improve their reading skills.
Grey County’s Reading Rescue program has received a grant for nearly 29 thousand dollars ($28,700) from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Local MPP Bill Murdoch says the funding will allow the program to continue and also expand to support more children with serious literacy problems.
The Reading Rescue program — which is based in Holland Centre — was in danger of ending last year before receiving Trillium funding.
The program offers help to 38 children through one to one coaching and support.
Parents also receive training to work with their kids at home.
To date, the program has successfully graduated 55 pupils.
