For Sale — the former PPG building in Owen Sound.
The 600 thousand square foot building located on 73 acres on 20th Street East has been listed for 6.1 million dollars.
The City is working with Mississauga listing agent Avison Young to sell the property.
Manager of Economic Development Steve Furness says they will provide whatever information is needed to market and promote the facility to potential manufacturers and investors.
PPG announced last September that the former glass plant — which once had 500 employees — would close.
Furness says they have met with the agents to discuss the strengths and benefits of Owen Sound, and the marketing strategies to sell the property.
Furness notes they can provide information on the community and a solid workforce.
Furness says the “extremely large building” is in good shape with unique features and is ideal for a manufacturer.
The property includes offices, heavy power truck bays, high ceilings and large warehouse space.
Furness feels the plant is a great value and a great opportunity for someone in a great community.
He says Owen Sound has all of the services needed for a large manufacturer to be successful — and is close enough to meet international shipping needs.
Furness is optimistic the plant will be sold, but he admits it might take some time.
Anyone interesting in finding out more information on the building, or wanting an information package can contact the Avison Young at call 905-283-2322, or the City of Owen Sound Economic Development Department at 376-1440 ext. 236.
