It’s great news for the family and the community who rallied behind him.
Owen Sound teenager Ian Hyland is leaving his Toronto rehab centre for one day and attending his graduation ceremony at Hillcrest school tonight.
The 14 year old was seriously injured in a skiing accident in December and is now in a wheelchair.
Family friend Donna Dunn says Ian and his classmates are extremely excited about his brief visit.
She says Ian is making some good progress with quite a bit of mobility in his arms, however he has no movement in his fingers and ofcourse none in his legs.
She says so far the community has raised close to 60 thousand dollars for the Hyland family with more than 14 thousand coming from fellow students and staff at Hillcrest.
Dunn says the family is very grateful to the entire community for their support.
She says the plan is to have Ian back home this summer — and starting grade 9 at West Hill in the fall.
