It’s time to bring honesty back into government.
So says Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington MPP Randy Hillier, one of four after the leadership of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party.
Hillier says people want honesty in their political representatives.
He says they’re not looking for spins and rhetoric that comes out of boondoggles like the e-heath controversey.
Hillier knows he’s labelled as an up-front guy who tells it like it is and he believes those attributes are needed for the next leader of the PC’s.
He says like the other candidates in the race, he has no use for the Harmonized Sales Tax that is due to kick in next year.
Hillier says he’d like the premier to defer it for one year and let it become an election issue that the people can decide.
Hillier is also calling on the province to allow take-out beer and wine sales in corner grocery stores and other licenced establishments such as bars and restaurants.
He says it would be part of his platform as head of the Conservatives.
Randy Hillier is one of three leadership candidates.
The others are Christine Elliott, Tim Hudak and Frank Klees.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound Progressive Conservative members will be able to vote for their new leader tomorrow from 3 PM to 9 PM at the Owen Sound legion.
Huron Bruce tories can vote at the Lucknow Arena.
The winner will be announced on Saturday.
