Hanover has filed an objection over Grey Countys proposed official plan.
The objection has been filed with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Chief Building Official Don Tedford says they are concerned the numbers do not add up for the County’s Growth Management Study.
Tedford claims the County seriously overestimated the amount of available commercial land Hanover has to offer.
Tedford says the County made this assumption without doing any actual number crunching or taking into consideration the commercial development constraints Hanover is currently facing.
Tedford adds it is frustrating that Hanover can not satisfy the great demand for commercial development that is placed on the town.
Tedford says the commercial land that is available is too costly at 450 thousand dollars an acre in the east end of Hanover.
With commercial land in short supply, he says there is not enough available land to lower that price.
Tedford is pleased the Province and County will sit down to look at the concerns.
He hopes the matter will be resolved soon.
If the province fails to rule in Hanover’s favour — the town plans to make an appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board.
