Kincardine Kippers swim well at first meet of the season
Banyard, Cote lead the way with three firsts
The Kincardine Kippers swim team travelled to Fergus on June 20 to take on rivals Fergus and Elmira in the first South Western Ontario Recreational Swimming Association swim meet of the season. While the team finished second to the home team, there were a number of first place finishes and personal best times to make this a very successful first outing.
Leading the way with three first place finishes each were Connor Banyard in the 9/10 age group and Josh Cote in the 13/14 category. Also finishing with at least one first place were Robert Banyard, Luke Bedard, Alex Morariu, Samantha Eby, Taylor Casciano, Rachel Jedemann, Makayla McGregor, Alexandra Jaszkul, Jenna Gade and Maggie Freimanis. The girls medley relay of Hodgins, K. Jaszkul, Connor Banyard and J. McGregor placed 3rd. The girls free relay team of M. McGregor, Sophia Tomaini, Carter Urie and Fuller placed 1st, followed by the team of Wheeler, Johnson and the Hazzard girls in 2nd.

Four new SWORSA records were set at this meet by two Elmira swimmers in the girls 13/14 50m and 100m freestyle and the girls open 50m and 100m breaststroke.
Kincardine will return to Fergus again on July 11.
