Details continue to be worked out surrounding plans for a new 36-unit not-for-profit housing development in Port Elgin.
Bruce County Manager of Housing Services Susan Earle says they should have the results of the environmental assessment on the site shortly.
She says the site, located on former industrial land will likely require some minor cleanup work.
County Councillor and Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith says based on what town staff have said, that should be an easy task to complete.
Earle says the project will hopeful go to tender by late summer, and be complete the same time the following year.
She says architect Grant Diemert is working on the drawings of the development right now but construction should begin this fall.
The county and town have been working with nearby residents who initially had concerns about the number of housing units proposed for the property, and about parking and water drainage.
Earle says they want to keep the residents up to date and a community meeting will be held to show them the final plan.
