Its a great way to bring in summer.
Its the first ever Saugeen Summer Nights Music Festival in Ayton today.
Its a star-studded roster of musical talent at River Place Park Campground.
Organizer Kay Ayres says the bill includes Johnny Reid, Scottish-born Canadian country singing sensation along with Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo fame.
Daniel Lanois also making an appearance along with Serena Ryder and Corb Lund. (also The Sadies, Mike Plume Band and Mark Benson)
Ayres says they couldn’t have picked a better location than River Place Park with tons of room for camping and parking.
The music gets underway at noon and organizers expect it to run until at least midnight.
She says proceeds from coffee and water sales will be going to War Child and World Vision and some of the proceeds from the beverage tent will be staying in the community through local charities.
Visitors will also be treated to local, organic produce and gourmet food booths.
Ayres says they’re hoping for about five thousand visitors.
She says tickets will be available at the gate.
They range from 45 to 65 dollars.
