Huron County has its first confirmed case of the H1N1 flu virus.
Medical Officer of Health Doctor Nancy Cameron says the patient is an adult who is now recovering at home after being hospitalized.
The person’s age and hometown were not released.
Doctor Cameron says the person has underlying medical conditions.
Doctor Cameron says more than 2,000 H1N1 cases have been confirmed across the province so it’s not surprising to record a case in Huron County.
The Health Unit reminds residents to wash your hands either with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and to keep clean any commonly-touched surfaces like countertops, keyboards or doorknobs.
Symptoms of H1N1 resemble those of seasonal flu including headache, chills, cough, fever, and loss of appetite.
