We could see a new Kincardine Community Medical Clinic in the summer of 2010.
Architect Brent Whiteley of Parkin Associates along with staff and Council members opened up the tenders for Phase 2 of the project yesterday.
6 tenders were submitted with the lowest coming in at 2.35 million dollars and the highest at 2.9 million.
Whiteley says he will now analyze the bids to ensure everything is completed and nothing is omitted.
Whiteley says he will report back to Council at their July 2nd meeting to present the lowest qualifying bid.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says their consultant did a good job in estimating the construction costs as 4 of the 6 bids were under the estimated 2.6 million dollars they had budgeted.
He says that will give the Municipality some room for contingency in case any unforeseen issues are raised.
Once the tender is awarded construction on the 55-hundred square foot addition is expected to begin in mid-July and completed within a year.
Kraemer says both the medical staff and the Municipality will be very happy once this whole situation is put behind them.
He says it will be a trying time for the medical staff as they will be working out of the existing clinic while the addition is being built.
