Saugeen Shores staff have the go ahead to work out an agreement with two engineering firms for work on the proposed sewer system expansion north of the Saugeen River in Southampton.
The Town recently received infrastructure funding for the project.
Deputy Mayor Doug Freiburger says Source Water Protection has created a higher demand for engineering firms, and that too has led to higher prices.
Freiburger says the town wants to have engineers in place to do the work so the town isn’t caught with higher costs.
Councillor Diane Huber says she’s been hearing comments from residents who are concerned about the project and wants to know when the public will be able to offer its input.
Two public information centres have been scheduled.
One is at the Southampton Town Hall at 7 o’clock tonight.
A second meeting will be held this Saturday June 20th at 2 PM at the Rotary Hall in The Plex in Port Elgin.
