Hanover officials are disappointed with West Greys decision not to enter into annexation talks with the town.
Hanover had hoped West Grey would consider adjusting its border to provide Hanover with room to grow at the east end of town.
Instead, West Grey has proposed a joint water and sewer services agreement — but it hasn’t received an enthusiastic response from Hanover Council.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says a restructured boarder would have brought in new development and new jobs for the area.
The ball is now in Hanovers court — if the town wants this development to happen it will have to hammer out some type of agreement with West Grey.
Maskell admits they are willing to look at other options with West Grey.
This is not the first time Hanover has tried to extend its boarder.
10 years ago West Grey provided Hanover with just over 900 acres of land prior to its amalgamation.
