Police are calling a pilot lucky after a crash at the Wiarton Airport.
Grey County OPP say the plane’s landing gear was still in the up position when the plane belly landed at about 3:30 PM Sunday.
The pilot was able to walk away uninjured from the crash.
Police say the outcome would have been very different if the 1977 twin engine Piper had flipped.
The pilot’s name has not been released, but police say he is an experienced flier from the Grey Bruce area.
Transport Canada was notified of the incident.
