There have been reports of a cougar on the loose in the Meaford area.
The owner of Ted’s Range Road Diner says he spotted the big cat outside of his restaurant around 8:30 PM Sunday night.
Ted Lye tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he was shocked to see the cougar in the tall grass about 100 yards from his restaurant door.
At first Lye thought it was a Lab — but he says after grabbing the binoculars, he could see it was a cougar.
Lye remembers the cougar was about 6 feet long and it was wagging its tail.
Lye says he ran to close the barn door where Ernie their pet pot belly pig stays out of fear the cougar was looking for something to eat.
That is when Lye says he was a little frightened because he didn’t know if the cougar would attack.
Lye says the cougar disappeared towards the tank range.
Lye adds it was the first time he ever noticed the cougar — but he notes some of his neighbours have also reported seeing a cougar in the last few weeks.
