Today’s the day Collingwood’s ethanol plant was supposed to start the shut down process so repairs could be made to finally end two years of stench and noise that has plagued the east end of town.
However, in a news release, the plant’s new public relations company says the shutdown will start instead on Saturday, June 20th.
Collingwood Ethanol — which now calls itself Amaizeingly Green — is also promising a report to the community every second week as it continues the work.
It’s first report report — the plant’s manager again apologized for the two years of odours that have led to thousands of complaints from people in Collingwood’s east end.
Plant Manager Martin Kazmir is promising tours of the facility so people who live in Collingwood can see what work has been done on the ethanol plant.
The report also claims the plant is ahead of schedule planning how the odour abatement equipment will be put in.
It says the engineering work is 90 per cent complete.
Because the plant changed its name and its legal team, Collingwood’s public nuisance case against it has also been delayed.
That case was supposed to have been heard last week.
