A sign of the tougher economic times charities are facing in Saugeen Shores.
The Annual Saugeen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Golf Tournament will NOT be held this September.
Organizers of the event, say it’s a tough decision, but don’t feel they would be able to duplicate last year’s successful amount raised of 27 thousand dollars.
In a release, Auxiliary President Mary McCallum attributes that to a tightening economy that may be impacting golfers and financial supporters.
McCallum says they hope to run the tournament, once again in the future.
The tournament has been the Auxiliary’s major annual fundraiser to purchase equipment for patient care and comfort at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital for the last twenty years.
To date, around 150 thousand dollars has been raised through the tournament.
