Saugeen Shores has accepted a challenge from its Bruce County neighbours in Brockton.
That municipality has registered to take part in the CBC’s One Million Acts of Green competition.
The goal is to register one million acts that are environmentally friendly — and the amount of greenhouse gases reduced will be tracked on a website.
Brockton has challenged Saugeen Shores to beat them when it comes to reducing greenhouse gases and council has accepted.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith says it will be a lot of fun to see how the town does and believes this is a good opportunity for the newly-created Environmental Committee which he says already has good participation from council and staff.
Smith says they’re the perfect group to address the contest and they’ll come up with ideas for council to look at.
A letter from Brockton Council says the environmental gauntlet has been thrown down.
