Huron Bruce Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell has heard from the Friends of the Kincardine Hospital.
Chair of the group, Gregg McClelland says they met with Mitchell in Kincardine to bring her up to speed on what the group is doing and their latest quest to get information from the South Bruce Grey Health Centre through the Freedom of Information Act.
McClelland says they’re trying to get operating numbers from the group to prove that the Kincardine Hospital, one of four in the cluster, can stand alone financially and through a service point of view.
He says the South Bruce Grey board has not given the information to his group saying it’s not available.
McClelland says he has it on reliable word that it does exist.
He says Mitchell is all for the group getting the information but she’s not too optimistic that the ministry of health is even going to listen to the arguments of de-amalgamation.
McClelland says his group wants to have a say in the management of the hospital rather than, as he puts it, being dictated to.
He says they want control of their own destiny.
Friends of the Kincardine Hospital is made up of local physicians and community members concerned with Kincardines healthcare options.
At the meeting with Carol Mitchell besides McClelland was Dr. Lisa Roth, a Kincardine physician, and group member Bev Bryant.
