Bruce Power is lending its support to the most prestigious award handed out by Easter Seals Ontario.
CEO Duncan Hawthorne is Chair of the Committee for the Toronto’s Tribute Award for top volunteers with the organization that helps disabled children.
This year’s recipients are former New Brunswick Premier and Canadian Ambassador to the United States Frank McKenna — who is now Deputy Chair of the TD Bank Financial Group — and Patrick Dillon of the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario.
The awards will be presented at the Easter Seals Toronto’s Tribute fundraising gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto tonight.
The guest list includes Premier Dalton McGuinty and several cabinet ministers.
Bruce Power Manager of Government Relations Ross Lamont says the company has been involved with Easter Seals for several years and Hawthorne agreed to chair this year’s gala.
Lamont says money is raised at the event by selling tables to various corporate donors.
He says Bruce Power likes to get involved in good charitable works of all kinds.
The Toronto’s Tribute gala has raised over 2.3 million dollars for Easter Seals since 2003.
Past award winners include former Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman, former Prime Minister Paul Martin, and Roger Abbott and Don Ferguson of CBC-TV’s Royal Canadian Air Farce.
