Brockton is looking at whether Walkerton can support a new hotel.
Council has agreed to allow for a feasibility study to be done on the Town.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato says they did one in 2004 and the results showed that both the Walkerton and Hanover areas were not suitable for a new hotel.
He says the report cites the area was not situated near the Lake Huron coast as the main reason.
Bagnato says things have changed in the 5 years since that study was done and feels they have a better chance this time around.
He says one of the factors is that Walkerton now has the Clean Water Centre as a tourist attraction.
Bagnato says they have applied for government funding to help pay for the 10 thousand dollar study.
He says there is a developer that is trying to round up money for a new hotel and has already secured 1.3 million dollars from local investors.
He says even if the developer pulls out, they will still have the study to show others that a new hotel business can work in Walkerton.
