Montgomery Captures Senior Champion of Champions
Kettleby, ON: Ian Montgomery of Toronto fired an even par 70 to claim the Ontario Senior Mens Champion of Champions at Carrying Place Golf and Country Club in Kettleby.
Representing the Weston Golf and Country Club Golf Club Montgomery played a flawless round to top the field of Senior Men Club Champions from across the province. His birdies at the fourth and seventeenth holes vaulted him to the top the leaderboard, two shot clear of the field.
You only get better with aged, stated Montgomery, so there is still hope for you flat bellied 55 year olds.
Garry Spence of London finished alone in second place after a solid round of 72. Spence, a St Thomas Golf & Country Club member, captalized on his birdies at seven, thirteen and seventeen to claim the silver medal.
Finishing three shots off the lead in third place was Jim Houston of Oakville. The Rattlesnake Point Golf Club member put together a round of 73 to take home the bronze.
