The OPP continue to investigate the incidents that ruined a soccer field in Georgian Bluffs.
Mayor Alan Barfoot tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that in early April and again in early May, ATV riders took their machines for a spin on the field in southwest Shallow Lake.
Barfoot says the pitch was so damaged that it can’t be used at all this year and has had to be reseeded.
That means Shallow Lake and District Minor Soccer has had to make arrangements with Sauble Beach to use their field for all their home games.
Barfoot estimates the damages cost about 6-thousand dollars to repair.
He says what makes it even more disheartening is the fact that this is the same field the municipality spent almost 50-thousand dollars to refurbish last year.
Barfoot says the OPP are still looking for suspects and although no arrests have been made, he’s hopeful it will happen.
The mayor is asking anyone with information on the ATV riders who may have been involved to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
He would also like the public to keep an eye on the field and report any suspicious activity.
